The Generative Brain

Contact

You can write to hello@thegenerativebrain.org about the site, and to corrections@thegenerativebrain.org about a mistake. We cannot give medical advice, interpret symptoms or test results, or advise on any person's risk.

This page tells you what to write to us about, and what to take to someone else. Please read the second part before you write.

How do I contact the site?

Email hello@thegenerativebrain.org. To report a mistake, email corrections@thegenerativebrain.org.

We aim to reply within 7 days and to fix errors within 7 days, sooner if harm is possible.

When you write, say which page you mean. A link is enough. Say what you think is wrong, or what you would like to know, and add a source if you have one.

What can I write to you about?

You can tell us about a mistake or an out-of-date fact. You can tell us a source is missing or a link no longer works. You can ask how the site chooses its sources, or report a page that is hard to use. Reports of mistakes are recorded on the corrections log. Reports about access are covered on the accessibility page.

Researchers, clinicians and support groups can write if they want a resource or a service listed or updated. Changes go through our usual checks.

We take no payment or sponsorship for listings, ever.

What can you not help with?

We cannot give medical, legal or insurance advice. We cannot look at a person’s symptoms, scan or test results, or family history. We cannot say what a result means for you or your relatives. We cannot tell anyone whether to have a genetic test. That choice is yours, and not testing is a valid choice.

Please do not send medical records, test results or other health details about yourself or another person. We may not be able to keep them private, and we cannot give personal advice in reply.

Who can help me with a health question?

Your own doctor is the first person to ask. If you are worried about a change in someone’s memory, movement or behaviour, ask their doctor or a neurologist. If a prion disease runs in your family, a genetic counsellor can explain the choices before any test is made. If you need urgent help, contact your local emergency services.

The Understand pages list support groups and services in more detail.

What happens to my message?

Email to our addresses is forwarded by Cloudflare to a Gmail inbox. We keep it only as long as we need to reply and to keep a record of corrections. The privacy notice has more detail.

Where can I read more about the site?

The About page lists the other pages that describe the site.
